In 2017, West Valley High School partnered with the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC) to start a Youth Apprenticeship Program.

Amber Stiles-Gill coordinates literacy, math, and English language support classes at the WV Mid-Level Campus. “I, like any teacher, love the way a student’s face lights up when they make significant progress or accomplish something they haven’t before,” Amber shares. “But what I love more than anything is when a student who is convinced they hate to read becomes a student who doesn’t want to stop reading.”

Jessica Hunter’s PE class has a unit on bike riding where and students learn this fundamental skill on a new path at the recently remodeled Summitview Elementary.

The West Valley School District (School District) and the City of Yakima (City) have cooperatively and jointly reached a settlement.

"This is a wonderful way to build relationships with students through small group experiences. It allows opportunities for building trust in smaller safe spaces," says Principal Debbie Cameron.

West Valley School District will introduce a new agriculture and robotics pathway for students at it's Innovation Center next year.

Over 100 works of art were entered in this year's Regional High School Art Show sponsored by ESD105. West Valley High School student Haley Lambert is the 2022 Regional Award winner, and is now heading to state.

The Cascade Mountain League Championship Drill Meet held their competition this last weekend, and the WVHS JROTC Championship results are in.

West Valley High School Students raised over $2600 in PINK October to donate to Ohana in order to support their efforts to fight breast cancer. In conjunction with the Memorial Foundation, students presented Ohana with the check today.

Rick Griffith, 8th grade Science Teacher, West Valley Mid-Level Campus received the “Excellence in Science Education – Middle School" award.

Out of roughly 16,000 schools using Imagine Learning, only 237 schools were recognized. West Valley School District was the only district in the nation, where the entire district received this honor.

The federal government provided school districts with Emergency Relief funds to assist schools with the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. West Valley has completed the reimbursement process for the first round of funding.

West Valley is hiring bus drivers and substitute bus drivers.
