Apr 11, 2023

Our Summitview Elementary students received the surprise of the year when they returned from Spring Break. Principal Eva Lust worked diligently with the West Valley School District to ensure that Summitview Elementary received the much-needed playground equipment that was installed during the week the students and staff were out on break. Pictured here are the reactions of the very first 'reveal' to the students, and by the looks of those smiles, the students really liked the surprise.

Principal Eva Lust says, "A huge THANK YOU to the District for allowing Summitview to purchase additional playground equipment."

School children do much more than sliding, swinging, and climbing on the equipment while at the playground. If you listen to their conversations keenly, you will realize a wide range of other make-believe games taking place. The importance of play in school is something that has been explored by researchers, teachers, and child psychologists for hundreds of years. Studies have shown that play in school is crucial not only for the development of a child’s physical skills but also of social skills, creativity, imagination, and coordination among many other things.
