West Valley High School Students Give Back by Volunteering at Ahtanum Valley Elementary
In a heartwarming display of community support and dedication, two West Valley High School students, Mahee Dhruva and Avalyn Hartman, have been spending their afternoons at Ahtanum Valley Elementary, volunteering their time and talents to help younger students thrive.
For the past several months, these dedicated high school students have been coming to the school every day for 2-3 hours each day to work one-on-one with individual students to help them catch-up academically and build confidence in their learning.
Their efforts have made a significant impact. They work with Ahtanum Valley students on a variety of subjects, from reading and writing to math and problem-solving. Their support has been especially valuable for students who may need extra help keeping-up with their classmates.
"We are so grateful to have these two incredible volunteers at Ahtanum," said Principal Nick Hartman. "Their commitment to helping students succeed is truly inspiring. It's also a wonderful example of how the older students in our community are giving back and making a difference in the lives of younger students."
Mahee and Avalyn have built strong, positive relationships with the children they work with, creating a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help. By offering individualized attention and support, these volunteers have helped bridge the gap for students who may be struggling or need extra encouragement to stay on track.
Ahtanum Valley Elementary places a high value on the contributions of its volunteers, recognizing how important these acts of kindness and selflessness are for the school’s success. Volunteers not only assist with academic learning but also serve as role models, showing students the importance of community service and the impact of giving back.
These West Valley students are a shining example of what it means to give back to the community, and the students and staff at Ahtanum Valley Elementary are grateful for their service.
