Data Summit

WVSD208 Board of Directors devote three study sessions each year to review District data. These study sessions are held in an Open Public Meeting prior to a regular School Board meeting. The most recent Data Summit was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The review of district data was led by Assistant Superintendent, Stacey Drake, and Superintendent, Dr. Peter Finch.

Data reviewed included student achievement data from Spring 2023 from the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and student achievement data from Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 from the iReady diagnostic assessments in reading and math. Additional quantitative data included student attendance, student discipline, graduation rate, and post-secondary achievement. Qualitative data included survey results from Fall 2022 and Fall 2023 from students, staff, and families.

Overall, students in the West Valley School District scored higher than the state average at nearly every grade level for student achievement data. Survey results were more positive than other schools for staff and families while student survey results demonstrated a concern regarding school culture. The District has undertaken a strategic planning process and a positive school culture will be a focus for all schools in the 2024/25 school year.
