Our main units of study in 6th grade science is “Populations and Ecosystems ” (Pop & Eco) and “Light” with the process of the scientific method/logic integrated into all units. My tech elective will focus on capsela projects, electricity, and robotic arm construction. Please use the links above to go to these specific units and information. Throughout the year we will study other science topics outside of the Pop & Eco/Light curriculum that will also count towards their overall grade. For all units we will use in-class journals for the majority of their work and they are allowed to use this journal for all major science tests. It’s a good idea to ask your son/daughter to bring this journal home every-so-often to check the organization and content.

Other things to be aware of:

• the grade earned is a percentage of total points
• late work is accepted several days after the due date but late work is automatically half off after the due date
• there is extra credit available (5pts) on a weekly basis with the Science World magazines
• grades are always available online so students can stay up-to-date on their progress
• daily work is always posted in the front of the room on the white board so there is no excuse for students to be “unaware” of what’s going on, part of the daily routine is writing this information in their Tracker
• the best way to contact me with questions is by email (freezec@wvsd208.org)
• students will be using the school computer lab during the year so please be aware of District/School policy's on technology
