Lit & Film: Unit 8 Final

Purpose:

  1. Demonstrate your new knowledge about literature and film!
  2. Show off your best writing and thinking!
  3. Finish this credit with style and your personal touch!

PLEASE NOTE: there are TWO CHOICES for the final.

Read both carefully and only do ONE!

Process A: Read a story or novel and make the movie

  1. Select a short story or novel from another English class or your own reading. Read it CAREFULLY and take notes on details as well as doing a book report form.
  2. Take on the role of director and plan the movie version.
  3. At the very least, you should include information on the characters, including actors/actresses you would cast; setting(s) for the film, music selections, basic story line with director’s notes, and the rating the film would receive with explanation.
  4. Your final product might be one long paper, a set of posters showing your plan or a combination of many elements. It must clearly show how the story would be told on film AND demonstrate at least one thing you learned from EACH unit.
  5. Create a cover page that includes:
    1. Name/class/date
    2. Story name and film name
    3. List of units 1 -7 with a quick note on what part of the project shows understanding of that unit.
    4. Grade you would give yourself and why

Process B: Watch a current movie (2000 or newer) and read the companion book

  1. Complete the movie worksheets for the film (include the ticket stub or video receipt)
  2. Find and read the book. (You could donate the book to RAP, or just show it to the teacher while reading.)
  3. Complete the book report form.
  4. Make a Venn Diagram showing both versions of the story.
  5. Write a compare/contrast paper for the story that includes your opinion on which version of the story was the best. Don't forget to show off your film vocabulary!
