Mission of SADD At first SADD's mission was to help young people say no to drinking and driving. Currently, that mission has expanded to teaching different strategies that help to say no. These such strategies include positive peer pressure, role models, and other strategies. SADD provides students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions. Policy SADD has a no alcohol use policy. Since SADD doesn't permit the use of alcohol it doesn't support activities that support underage drinking. These activities are Designated Driver programs, Safe Rides programs, parties where alcohol is being served under the supervision of or with the knowledge of consent of parents or other adults, and drinking subject to a breathalyzer test. SADD seeks not to alienate those students who make unfortunate decisions, but rather aims to inform, educate, support, and empower young people to make positive decisions in their lives. |
