The course enables students to learn the functions of keeping financial records for businesses and acquaints the student with the skills and concepts needed to assume a beginning job in some aspect of the accounting world. Students will use accounting software and the internet. A nationwide computer contest of the stock market game will be played during the first trimester.

4. Prepare financial statements.
5. Demonstrate ability to adjust and close entries.
6. Demonstrate preparation of an eight column worksheet.
7. Demonstrate proper use of special journals.
8. Demonstrate proper procedure dealing with payroll.
9. Perform accounting procedures for taxes and other deductions.
10. Understand controls for accounting subsystems.
