Venn Diagram(s) to Compare & Contrast International Organizations

(REMEMBER, each of these has a lesson in A+)

GRADING:

Use this rubric to plan what you will have to do to earn the grade you want. Work with your teacher to ensure your project is on track.

A

All three organizations are included in one Venn Diagram. Creative touches like color or fonts help the viewer to make sense of the information presented. At least 5 pieces of information are included in each "section" of the diagram. All the information included is accurate. The Works Cited page is perfect, reflecting extra time spent in the editing process.

B

The student may have chosen to do two-circle diagrams. The information presented is clear and accurate. At least four items appear in each section. The Works Cited page may have a few minor errors that would have been caught with one more proofread.

C

This assignment includes at least three items in each section. The diagram may be three- circle or many two-circle. A Works Cited page is included, but it has major problems in consistent formatting. While all of the information included is accurate, some important information may be left out.

See the next page to learn what Venn Diagrams look like and the differences between a

two-circle and three-circle diagram.

This is a two-circle diagram. Note how it has three "sections" to fill with information. If Item A was DOGS and Item B was CATS you would describe dogs in the first circle by listing things that ONLY APPLY to dogs in the far right section and listing the things that APPLY TO BOTH dogs and cats in the middle section. Things that describe ONLY cats would be in the far left section.

This is a three-circle diagram. Note that is has seven "sections" to fill with information. The center most section is for things that all three items have in common. For practice, use Dogs for Item A, Cats for Item B and Birds for Item C. How would you fill in each section?

**TIP**

When making your own by hand, find round things to trace; dinner plates work well. If you are using the computer, Publisher works well. (It is how these were made.)
