For this .5 credit course you will need to complete the A+ lessons online and the lessons in the Literature and Language (L&L) book. The final for the class is a 7-page paper discussed at the end of the syllabus.

Please complete all of Unit 1 before you move on. Staple all of the story Qs together with a title page that includes your name, the class name, unit # and any extras you want to add. Turn in your rough draft for the essay and then start on the next unit.
Unit 1: Paying the Price /75 points
Read the unit prep on page 63 and do the writing assignment: "Describe a time when you acted proud or in control even though you felt differently inside."
Read Story Dandelion Wire pgs 64-77.
Read the prep on page 81 and answer all questions in the following sections with at least one paragraph:

Read prep on pg 94 and create the chart suggested to track problems and solutions.
Read the Story Honor p 95-101 and answer Qs 1-8 on pg 102.
Read all prep on page 105 and answer the 4 Qs.
Read the story My Shirt is for Church pgs 106-110
(100 points) Read all of pages 114-117. Write a reflective essay, it needs to be at least 3 pages double spaced make sure to turn in all pre-writing material with your final draft.
Unit 2: Beating the Odds /75 points
Read all of pg 268 and prepare to complete the timeline suggested in the Enrich your Readings.
Read the story Survival in the Forty-ninth p 269 274
Read the prep on p 278 before reading The Death Trap p 279-287.
Read A Young Lady of Property p 291-312.
Read Rules of the Game pg 367-376.
Read the prep on p 386 before reading Wilma pg 387-390.
(100 points) Use the process taught on p 316-322 to write a biography. The final drafr needs to be 3-5 pages in length, double-spaced, 12 inch font. To earn any credit the paper must include 2 things: THE THEME IN ONE SENTENCE & A WORKS CITED PAGE IN PROPER FORMAT! Please ask for help if you need it.
