All assignments must be completed at 70% or better before credit will be posted to your transcript. This is not just "watching movies" so please read the syllabus carefully before you commit to this course!
You will need to rent MANY videos/DVDs for this course and see at least one movie in the theatre. It will be your cost, your risk and your job to find the films. If you are under 18 and wish/need to use a movie with an "R" rating, submit a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian. You can do this for any "R" rated movie or write it specifically for one or two films as you need them.
Select 5 genres from a list; read the assigned novel and watch the movie version. For each set you will complete 1) Book Report form 2) Movie worksheet set 3) Venn Diagram. One of the five must be developed into a full compare/contrast essay.
Survey of Directors: you will select 3 directors and for each one: 1)research to write a biography 2)compile a film list and 3) watch at least one of their movies and write a review.
FINAL: There are two choices – both involve reading a novel. You will either watch a movie and read the story/novel and compare them OR make plans for creating the movie version of a story/novel that isn't already a movie.
