Art Appreciation
(.5 credit)

This course is usually used to satisfy one of the "Fine Arts" graduation requirements (for WV and the state). It can be taken in your sophomore, junior or senior year. If you have enough Fine Art credit it can also be used as an elective. To earn credit you will complete the lessons in A+ as well as some projects applying what you learn in those lessons - so take the time to "learn" not just "do" the material.

Be prepared to take notes and think! You will learn specilized vocabulary and be expected to use it in your writing. You are going to learn a whole new way to see the world - and you're gonna like it! Good Luck.

Project #1: Art Terms Dictionary

As you go through EACH lesson you will note that the key vocabulary and concepts are usually in red font. At the end of the course you will need to turn in your notes of these words and their definitions. You may choose to handwrite or type the list. Before you turn the list in BE SURE TO USE IT as you complete the projects. You need to use these words in your writing. Make this an "Art Dictionary" you can use.

A
Dictionary is complete, neat, includes some fun, artsy or original touches. Works shows pride and time.
B
Dictionary is complete and readable.

The rest of the projects are linked to specific A+ lessons. Use this chart to keep track of what you need to complete in each lesson. When a lesson includes more than the test, please do the project at that time. Don't skip it and go onto the next lesson! After the project is complete, turn it in to the "Elective" tray with a heading on it that clearly shows your name the name of this class. Note that many of the projects have a Self Evaluation sheet that MUST be turned in with the work.
