Peer Mentor Program

Our Peer Mentor Program pairs students in our Self Contained Special Education Classes with students in the general population as buddies.  The Mentors fill out an application and must go through a training before they can start being a Mentor.

The Mentors meet with Mr. Jaeger once a week to report any community service hours, check-in what they have been doing with their buddies, and to plan events for Mr. Jaeger and Ms. Holmes’s Classes.  The Mentors have put on a Special Education vs. WVHS Staff Basketball game and have given a presentation to a group of high school leadership students from Central Washington.  They are planning on putting on another basketball game this year and a Special Education Dance in the Spring.

The Mentors have taken their buddies to movies, overnights with their friends, soccer games, had lunch with them, and call them up over the summer.

If you are interested in being a Peer Mentor there are application in the Main Office and the Counseling Office.  You may also contact Mr. Jaeger in room 302.
