Course Description
: Functional Academics, pre-vocational and vocational training, and daily living skills training to prepare students for post-secondary employment and supported or independent living.

The transition project helps identified students enrolled in WVHS Transition program earn a Certificate of Completion. Based upon meeting the goals and objectives on IEPs, students may attend school until age 21.

The focus of the program is to provide opportunities for students to gain skills for employment upon graduation. Students participate in activities ranging from pre-vocational (in class) tasks to vocational training. They are given on - campus individual and team work experiences as well as off-campus experiences like our school district's laundry program, cross-age tutoring, and community placement with local businesses. In class activities they learn the basics of personal presentation like their home address, communication, dress, grooming, appropriate work behaviors, problem-solving on-the-job, on task behavior, etc.

The academic activities that students participate in include functional reading, writing, and math. Students also participate in daily living activities for cooking, household maintenance, home and community safety, personal safety, as well as demonstrating acceptable social behavior.
