Senior Project Application - PRACTICE

The Senior Project is now a graduation requirement in the state of WA. At WVHS this project is the main focus of Ram Prep 12, another .5 credit class, you use towards graduation credits. Some students choose to complete their project over the summer between Junior and Senior year. This makes for a somewhat less stressful Senior year. (Keep in mind that there are other assignments in Ram Prep 12.)

This assignment gives you a chance to become familar with the Senior Project requirements and what it takes to propose a project. You may just make up a project to practice using the form or propose an actual idea you have. Either way, it is critical that you fill out this form correctly because you can't start a Senior Project until it has been approved.

First, view this PowerPoint presentation. You are welcome to have the teacher view it with you. It was designed for a Senior Parent night so having a teacher talk through it with you might help it make the most sense.

Next, copy and past the Application Form into Word and start filling it out. You may want to print it first so you can use pen/pencil for a rough draft. Notice all the signatures and additional forms attached to it. You will need to identify a mentor or community contact to help with your project. (For this practice one you can make that person up, but still fill out the forms for this fake person.)

Sometimes it helps to see what other students before you have tried for Senior Projects. There are no guarantees that these Senior Project ideas would be approved again - you need all the info on the Proposal form before we know that. Some of these went really well - others not so well; but you can learn from both experiences. As you read this list, see if you can determine which category each project fits. What learning goals would be expected?
