Financial Project (Consumer Ed Project)

This assignment challenges you to figure out what it costs to live on your own for one month. It includes worksheets and guides to help you get to the real numbers you need. It also contains a creative/fun aspect to make up for all the numbers you need to crunch.

This project will take more than a couple of days - take some time to organize all the pieces and ask questions so when you get started it will go smoothly!

Read and print these instructions: Consumer Ed Project

Copy and paste this spreadsheet into Excel so you can input your own numbers: Budget Template

The first column asks you to guess how much each item will cost you. Make your best guess. Show your guesses to your teacher or to a parent and get their input. Then do some research and find out the actual cost for each item or service. Record your findings in the next two columns.

When you have the expenses figured out, see your teacher so you can reach into a hat and get a "scenario" of a job and other circumstances. Then you'll see if you could make it or not. (This is the last part of the spreadsheet.)

Follow the instructions on the last page of the Consumer Ed Project packet for what to turn in.
