You will be selecting TWO assignments (one must be a written essay) from your sophomore classes that show your BEST WORK. These pieces should show your skills and that you learned something. Additional guidelines follow...
After you have TWO assignments selected, you need to do 3 things:
- The State of WA has some learning goals they consider essential to your HS experience. Print this CHECKLIST and check off any of those learning goals that the assignment SHOWS YOU KNOW.
- People from the world of work have also created a list of skills they want you to learn in HS. Print their CHECKLIST and check off any of those goals that this assignments SHOWS YOU KNOW.
- Finally, write your own reflection on why this is an example of your best work as a sophomore. REFLECTION GUIDE
Best Works Guidelines:
- You must turn in two Best Works by the end of your sophomore year and these must be from your sophomore year.
- Evidence may include projects, performance assessments, or extended response.
- People will see your work so make sure it reflects your best effort.
- Reflections will be evaluated by the instructor.
- Any of the Best Works, whether a project, performance assessment, or extended response, must also identify the SCANS Skills and Competencies that relate to their work.
- One of the Best Works should be a written paper from any of the classes, the other Best Work could be any project, performance assessment, or extended response.
