Hourly Rate: $13.93 per hour
Anticipated Start Date: June 16, 2008, until approximately August 22, 2008, (not to exceed 49 days)
Purpose Statement:
The job of Groundskeeper is done for the purpose/s of maintaining attractive grounds area/s and athletic fields; maintaining and repairing irrigation systems; applying required pesticides; ensuring the availability of required equipment; protecting against erosion; maintaining grounds for assemblies, recreational activities and/or athletic events; and ensuring assignments are competed in a safe, proper and timely manner.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet
changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating
equipment used in grounds maintenance including weed whips, mowers, fork lift, tracker, hand and power tools, etc.;
preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a
variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand
complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions
of the job includes: method of preparing and maintaining various plants, shrubs, lawns, etc.; and safety practices and
procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and
similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with
a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-
related equipment. In working with others, problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and
problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the
functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; meeting deadlines and schedules; working under time
constraints; and communicating with diverse groups.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing
information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other
work units if often required to perform the job’s functions. There is some opportunity to impact the Organization’s
services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant
lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or
crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing.
The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
Experience Job related experience is required.
Education High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Testing Basic Skills Test & Scheig Test
Certificates and Licenses Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability
Continuing Education and Training Spraying License required or obtained through the school district
Clearances Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance and Drug Screening
All new employees must complete fingerprint and drug screening process before employment. The cost to the employee is approximately $100.00
