QUALIFICATIONS: All qualifications are required unless otherwise indicated.

  1. Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with major/minor in special education or equivalent desired. Evidence of competency in intermediate level instruction as evidenced by college transcript or work history.
  2. Evidence of recent successful experience working with students in a multi-cultural education environment.
  3. Demonstrated success in assessing and diagnosing specific learning deficiencies and providing appropriate student interventions to fill competency gaps.
  4. Demonstrated computer literacy.
  5. Believe that all students can learn.
  6. Demonstrated success with non-traditional learners and at-risk students desired.
  7. Evidence of high standards in classroom management and student achievement.
  8. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work cooperatively with other team members in developing curriculum, meeting State standards, and teaching assignments.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Special Education Resource Room provides an alternative to regular classroom instruction for students with disabilities.

  1. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs for students as assigned.
  2. Remain knowledgeable about the regular curriculum in grades six and seven.
  3. Implement requirements according to IDEiA 2004 and its implementation rules and regulations as well as those of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the ADA in the education of students with disabilities.
  4. Participate actively with the building team and with colleagues across the district in curriculum and assessment development and training.
  5. Communicate regularly and pro-actively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
  6. Maintain a positive attitude and productive learning environment.
  7. Uphold and enforce all school and District Board rules and policies.
  8. Model appropriate professional behaviors at all times.
  9. Instruct classes in accordance with WVSD adopted curriculum guidelines and Washington State Essential Academic Learning benchmarks.

 

 

All new employees must complete fingerprint and drug screening process before employment. The cost to the employee is approximately $100.00.
