We are accepting applications for a part-time or full-time SLP

QUALIFICATIONS: All qualifications are required unless otherwise indicated.

  1. Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate with Speech and Language endorsement. Evidence of competency in speech and language instruction as evidenced by college transcript.
  2. Evidence of recent successful experience working with students in a multi-cultural education environment.
  3. Demonstrated success in assessing and diagnosing speech and language deficiencies and providing appropriate student interventions to fill competency gaps.
  4. Demonstrated competence in implementing and developing instruction aligned with State Grade Level Expectations in the speech, language and writing areas.
  5. Demonstrated computer literacy.
  6. Evidence of successful public school experience in special education within the last 5 years.
  7. Believe that all students can learn.
  8. Demonstrated success with non-traditional learners and at-risk students.
  9. Evidence of high standards in student management and student achievement.
  10. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement Washington State Essential Academic Learning Standards and Grade Level Expectations.
  11. Satisfactory performance evaluations for at least the last 3 years.
  12. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work cooperatively with other team members in developing curriculum, meeting State standards, and teaching assignments.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Special Education program provides an alternative and an adjunct to regular classroom instruction for students with disabilities.

  1. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs for students as assigned.
  2. Remain knowledgeable about the regular curriculum in all grades.
  3. Implement requirements according to IDEiA 2004 and its implementation rules and regulations as well as those of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the ADA in the education of students with disabilities.
  4. Participate actively with the building team and with colleagues across the district in curriculum and assessment development and training.
  5. Communicate regularly and pro-actively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
  6. Maintain a positive attitude and productive learning environment.
  7. Uphold and enforce all school and District Board rules and policies.
  8. Model appropriate professional behaviors at all times.
  9. Instruct students in accordance with WVSD adopted curriculum guidelines and Washington State Essential Academic Learning benchmarks.
