We have 10 business days to process the application. You are responsible to purchase meals or bring meals from home until your application has been processed.

A letter will be mailed home to notify you of the application results. If you do not receive a letter within a week of submitting the application, please contact the Child Nutrition Office.

2.  How do I open a lunch account for my student?

When you enroll your student in school they are automatically issued a CN meal account. They are assigned a 7-digit I.D. number which they will either state their name (at elementary schools), or type or scan their ID card (at secondary schools) into a pin pad if they choose to buy a meal or a drink.

3. How do I deposit money into their CN meal account?

Please send either cash or a check (checks are encouraged) with the student’s full name written in the memo section to school with them. You must send one check for each child. At elementary schools, deposits are collected in the classroom with each student having their own deposit envelope. They are then sent to the kitchen to be deposited into each student account. At the secondary schools (Middle School, Junior High School, 9 th Grade Campus and High School), students deposit money on the line when they go to purchase their lunch.

Credit card payments are accepted online through MyNutrikids.com (a 7-digit pin number is required to register for each student - please contact the Child Nutrition Office for your child’s 7-digit I.D. number). Parents can also deposit money into their child(ren)’s accounts at the Child Nutrition Office, 7507 Zier Road (housed at West Valley Junior High, our office is located in the Southeast Parking Lot in the cyclone fenced area).

5. If I send in cash with my student can he/she get change?

No, we do not give cash back on the service line. The remainder stays in their account. This allows cashiers to focus on getting students through the service lines as quickly as possible, leaving more time for eating and recess/socializing.

6. What if I forget to send lunch money to school?

Just like eating at any establishment, meals must be paid for at the time of service. It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility for ensuring that their child has money in his/her account or brings a meal from home. Students will be notified when their meal account is low with a printed receipt (elementary) or verbal account balance (secondary). You may call our office to obtain account balances.

12. My student has a life threatening food allergy/non-life threatening food allergy/physical disability; is there any way Child Nutrition can help?

For life-threatening allergies, meals from home provide the safest option.

Substitutions and/or accommodations are made for students with Life Threatening allergies and/or life threatening physical disabilities. A Diet Prescription form or medical statement must be signed by your physician. No substitutions can be made to our menus without either the Diet Prescription form or medical statement on file.  It must include:

    • An identification of the medical or other special dietary condition which restricts the child’s diet.
    • The food or foods to be omitted from the child’s diet.
    • The food or choice of foods to be substituted.
  • No substitutions are allowed for non-life threatening reasons.  Those students may take advantage of the other offerings that day and make their own substitutions.
  • No food substitutions are allowed for religious and/or personal reasons.

13. Can we request food substitutions for religious and/or personal reasons?

No. All food substitutions must be prescribed by your physician or medical authority for a Life Threatening medical reason.
