Computer Science Education Week

This week is Computer Science Education week. Computer Science has never been more important in today’s ever-changing world. Did you know that students who learn computer science in high school are 6x more likely to major in it?

From breakthroughs in medicine to new discoveries in science and art, we are sharing the importance of Computer Science with our students and encouraging curiosity and wonder!

That’s why West Valley Junior High is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code. This global movement is reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.

What is the Hour of Code? It is a one-hour introduction to computer science designed to demystify "code” to show that anybody can learn the basics and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide.

Our Hour of Code is making a statement that we are ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills.
