Downtown Yakima Rotary Club Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Brienn Aman, John Opfer, Kailea Aman, and Elly Teske, high school seniors who earned scholarships from the Downtown Yakima Rotary Club!

Students were selected based on their applications and interviews. Judges look for, in addition to a perfect or near-perfect GPA, involvement in their schools and a dedication to community service. These students are wonderful examples of intelligent, engaged, compassionate individuals:

Brienn Aman is a member of the National Honor Society, section leader in band, and involved in the Interact Club. She is a volunteer with Memorial YouthWorks and at Cottage in the Meadow.

John Opfer is a member of the National Honor Society and the Special Olympics Club. He has served as a section leader for both the concert band and the jazz band. He is also a Boy Scout and has earned the prestigious Eagle Scout designation. John regularly volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.

Kailea Aman has been involved in the Interact Club and as a section leader in the band. Kailea has given back to the greater community through her work at Children's Village and the Union Gospel Mission.

Elly Teske has served as president of her school's National Honor Society chapter, played on the All-State Basketball Team, and played the tuba in both state and regional solo/ensemble competitions. She has been a leader of a local Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter and shares her knowledge with others as a math and science tutor.

Students, we’re so proud of you! Thank you to the Downtown Yakima Rotary Club for recognizing their value and investing in their futures!
