We want to invite community members to learn more about facilities growth options for the District. The Facilities Committee has been working on a plan to address our growing student population and capacity concerns. While focusing on a long-term plan, the Board is also wrestling with more short-term solutions. While the board has narrowed down three facilities options, no decisions have been made.

These meetings offer an opportunity to learn about and discuss each plan's specific details as well as preliminary pros and cons.

In addition to these meetings, you can learn about the plans here:

Plan X

Plan Y

Plan Z

This week, we want to shine a light on the outstanding work of middle-level Choral Music teacher, Megan Goranson. Megan has been a real leader with the use of Google classroom, a tool that enhances learning.

She uses Youtube videos of student groups performing music and has students analyze performances, practicing their writing skills with academic vocabulary specific to choral music. Every day, she teaches 120 students at the junior high and 145 at the middle school.

For her to do this work with over 250 students each day is truly amazing! Keep up the great work, Megan!

Over the past few years, the theatre program has grown with a curriculum that spans grades 5-12. This growth has meant more opportunities for high school students to learn and explore other aspects of theatre such as play writing, directing, producing, publicity, stage managing, etc.

This semester, two high school students, Sarah Daley and Matt Blanchard, have devoted their time to the junior high theatre program. Both have written their own plays (adaptations of a children's show and a children's Christmas book) and are working on their directing skills while simultaneously helping young junior high actors practice their own acting skills.

You are invited to come see these wonderful collaborations!

Join us December 12th during 5th and 6th periods:

5th period - "The Christmas Orange"

Written and Directed by Sarah Daley

12:45 p.m. - 1:20 p.m.

6th period - "King Cole's Party"

Written and Directed by Matt Blanchard

1:45 p.m. - 2:20 p.m.

The performances are open to the public.

Audience members should check-in at the office before going to the auditorium.
