The mission of the West Valley Schools Foundation is to enhance education opportunities and experiences for all students of the West Valley School District by raising money to fund programs, projects, materials, and activities that benefit students of our school district, but are beyond the scope or ability of the school district. That is what we do!

To date, our foundation has funded grants from teachers and administrators that enhance learning by providing field trips and science and technology curriculum that are not currently funded by the state. In addition, we provide grants to purchase materials for West Valley School teachers to use during everyday learning opportunities in classroom. Our organization has funded over $50,000 in grants to the West Valley School District. These funds are made available by donations, sponsorships, and fundraisers.

Our primary fundraiser is “Evening in the Orchard,” a dinner and auction at Johnson Orchard on Summitview Avenue. The next one will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $50 for the Dinner & Auction, which includes two drink tickets.

To purchase tickets or ask questions, contact Monique Stine at (509) 930-1911.  Information about our foundation can be found at our website, here.

We look forward to seeing you at our event!

Featured above: Elly's Teske's artwork.

Last spring, West Valley High School had five students who submitted a portfolio of their artwork to the College Board for AP Studio Art.

All five students received a passing grade, which means they are eligible for advanced placement into coursework at the college level.

The students were:

Jailene Diaz

Diego Quintana

Kylee Ramsey

Congratulations to these students and to their teacher, Grant Johnston!

For the second time in the past three years, West Valley School District has been recognized as a District of Distinction in District Administration Magazine.

In 2014, we were recognized for our Pre-K Initiative as well as our commitment to the 5 Steps to Student Success. This year, we have earned recognition for our highly successful and nationally-recognized Career Readiness Program.

Our industry partnerships, career and college fair, and community collaborations were all recognized in our efforts to create pathways for students to reach their career and educational goals.

This year, we are introducing the new EARLY START Program. For those of you who have not heard, the EARLY START Program will begin at all of our elementary schools this fall.

This program will allow 3rd and 4th grade students to sign up to ride the secondary bus (which runs earlier) to be shuttled to their elementary school at 8:00 a.m. to do one of the following:

1. Enroll in their choice of 20+ Rosetta Stone language courses through the West Valley Virtual Academy—costs will be paid by the District. This does require a commitment to participate every day.

Language choices include:

Spanish (Latin America), French, Italian, German, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dari, Dutch, English (British), Filipino (Tagalog), Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Irish, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Pashto, Persian (Farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Spain), Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

2. Participate in Mathematics and/or Reading enrichment or remediation through our Ready Math and Ready Reading online program.

3. Participate in English Language Learning through our Imagine Learning online program.

A teacher at each elementary school will staff the EARLY START Program for the time period prior to the normal start time. 3rd and 4th grade students will have 1:1 access to Chromebooks for online learning. This program is possible due to some revenue that the District has made from our West Valley Virtual Academy, hosting students throughout Washington State.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
