Hosts Needed for Association of Washington Student Leaders Conference

We Need Your Help! The 2017 Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) conference will once again be back in Yakima on October 13-15 (Friday afternoon to Sunday morning). This year, both Ike and Davis will be the host schools, and West Valley will be part of helping.  Last time the conference was here, West Valley hosted and the other schools helped out.

We need help finding families willing to be “homestays” for the delegates attending the conference and would love to have as many West Valley families help as possible.

The criteria for hosting students is simple:

1) Host at least 3 students in your home. They don’t need beds, just a comfortable place to sleep (floor, couch, etc.)

2) Provide punctual transportation to/from Eisenhower and/or Davis each day. Only adult drivers, no student drivers.

3) Feed them three meals and snacks. (Dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.)

4) Entertain the students Friday evening (Ideas: football game, corn maze, board games, bowling, movies in your home, etc.). You would not need to pay for this, but please let kids know to bring money in order to participate.

That’s it! You will have students of the same gender in your home (either all boys or all girls), and you can request the gender based on students you have in your home. In the past, this experience has been incredible for both the student and the host family.

You do not need to have a high school-aged student to host. Elementary students often love having older kids in the house for a few days.

We are trying to get 200+ spots from WV families and we still need about 150+.
