Tech Prep is a national program that offers dual credit--both high school and college credit--for students enrolled in various Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that are articulated with a local community college.
In the West Valley School District, at the junior high school and the high school, thirteen different courses are offered for Tech Prep credit. Through a partnership with Yakima Valley Community College and Spokane Falls Community College, these credits are offered to our students for free.
Students who successfully complete the competencies in the Tech Prep courses are automatically eligible for the free college credits. Students must complete a registration form that is provided by the teacher.
Through Tech Prep courses in West Valley, students can earn up to 61 college credits. At the current rate of $89.00 per credit, Tech Prep provides students in West Valley the opportunity to earn over $5,000 in free college credits.
For details on Tech Prep and how this may help your son or daughter greatly reduce the cost of higher education, see the links below.
